Sometimes you just need some extra colour and life in your home.
But wait... your cat is SO sassy and you need to make sure they stay safe and don't eat any plants that will harm them.
Cat safe flowering plants:
Orchids: they're SO pretty AND a cat-safe flowering plant, and they do well indirect light, which is another bonus.
Roses: BUT trim the thorns. They smell amazing and are beautiful to look at so they make an excellent choice.
Sunflowers: yes, sunflowers are huge, but if you're game, what a fun cat-safe flower to have in your space. They're so cheerful to be around. They're non-toxic to dogs, cats and apparently horses! Put them in a sunny spot though so they do they're best.
Snapdragons: we had these in the garden when I was a kid and they're bright and cute. They also need a lot of sun to really thrive, so keep that in mind when choosing a cat-safe, non-toxic flowering plant.
Gerbera Daisies: they universally symbolize cheerfulness and joy, and we all could use that. They like morning sun and partial shade in the afternoon.
African Violets: they like bright, indirect light. This one is a bit more iffy - if your cat chews on the leaves, they can get nauseous, so a word of caution there.
Lisianthus: these are new to me, and are so pretty; they're similar to roses and come in vibrant colours. They're perfect if you want a nice bouquet on the table.
Flowers to avoid if you have a cat:
Lillies, tulips, daffodils and chrysanthemums; they all have either toxins or other things that can cause severe vomiting, heart issues, dermatitis and more.
